Our Home Is Worth Fighting For…
My name is Christopher Collins and I am a Republican running for Martin County Commission. I believe this election will decide the character of Martin County going forward.
There have been troubling signs of developers gaining undue influence with County Commissioners, rezoning of agricultural land to “rural lifestyle" communities, more large scale projects in the pipeline and the weakening of our Comprehensive Growth Management Plan—the very safeguard that once protected The Martin County Difference.
Today, we are facing unprecedented threats to our way of life. The developer lobby pushes new growth bills through Tallahassee every session. We’ve experienced firsthand how close special interests came to developing Jonathan Dickinson State Park into golf courses. We are blessed to live in paradise, but it’s up to us to protect it.
While serving as your City Commissioner and Mayor over the last four years, I have been clear and consistent about my priorities: Slow Growth, Clean Water and Low Taxes. And in that time, the City of Stuart has experienced a 98% reduction in apartment approvals, creation of an environmental attorney position and the lowering of your tax rate for the first time in 10 years.
If we don’t protect Martin County now, we are going to lose it. Our traffic, wallets and water quality can’t withstand four more years of the same failed leadership. I am running because I believe our community deserves leaders who will defend our growth protections, reign in reckless spending and always put residents first.
This campaign is about your quality of life and the promise that Martin County remains a place worth passing down to the next generation. If you believe, like I do, that our home is worth fighting for—then I ask for your support. Together, we can protect what makes this place so special.
God bless you and thank you for your consideration.
